MetaFox 是一款免費的影片轉 MKV 軟體，簡單易用。程式安裝後會在桌面產生一個捷徑圖示，只要將要轉換的影片檔或整個資料夾拖放到圖示上，程式就會開始進行轉檔，並在原資料夾產生同名但副檔名為 .mkv 的影片檔，轉檔速度超快。它可將 HEVC、AVI、MOV、MP4、MPG、FLV、RMVB 及其他影片格式轉換為 MKV。
MKV 為 Matroska Video 的縮寫。Matroska 是一種容器檔案格式，可容納無限多個影片、聲音和字幕軌以及任何中繼資料。這意味它可讓我們把整部電影 (內有多個聲音和字幕軌、章節資訊及影片縮圖) 包裹成單一檔案。因此，現今 MKV 不僅獲得廣泛支援，而且很快就成為儲存電影的實質標準。
必須說明的是，程式視窗有個「Settings」(設定) 按鈕，按下後視窗會略微展開，展開的部分有 Alt Method #1、Alt Method #2、Dsmux Only、Compress Headers、Mux All Input ( Mux Groups、Append Files) 和 Split DVD Episode 等選項可以勾選，但並未提供相關說明。反正保留預設值 (全部不勾選) 並不影響轉檔的品質和速度。

The program is a simple to use MKV video file converter with a few steps. The installer places a shortcut on your desktop. You drag’n’drop a file or even an entire folder onto the shortcut and it will create copies of the originals in the MKV format. This tool is especially useful to Windows 7 users who have trouble with thumbnails or video playback. It can converts HEVC, AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, FLV, RMVB, etc… to MKV files efficiently with great picture quality.
There is a settings button that opens the Window wider with some options. They aren’t all well explained, for example, we couldn’t find anything on a few of the settings including “Alt Method 1 and 2.” Other options include Dsmux only, Compress headers, Mux All Input including Mux Groups and Append files, and Split DVD videos.
