Ares Galaxy 是一款開放原始碼的免費檔案分享軟體，可讓使用者分享任何數位檔案，如圖片、音樂、影片、軟體或文件等等。
您可以輕易地透過 Ares Galaxy 點對點 (P2P) 網路發佈分享您的檔案，也可以透過 Ares Galaxy 搜尋或下載其他使用者分享出來的檔案。Ares 還可讓您建立或加入聊天室，讓使用者可以透過聊天室找到志同道合的朋友，或是結交認識新的朋友。此外，它還支援 BitTorrent 協定和 Shoutcast 廣播電台。
這軟體內建媒體播放功能，讓使用者可以預覽影片或是播放音樂檔及提供一個類似 Media Player 媒體櫃的功能，讓使用者在管理影音檔案時，可以更加的有效率以及有組織性。它內建一個 IE 核心的網頁瀏覽器，且該瀏覽器跟內建的媒體播放器互相結合，讓使用者可以一邊使用內建的網頁瀏覽器瀏覽網頁，一邊使用內建的媒體播放器觀看影片或是聆聽音樂。程式安裝完畢後，不會自動切換為繁體中文介面，須在執行程式後，點選上方的「Control Panel」圖示，再點選下方的「General」，於「Preferred Language」裡選取「chinese_tw」才可切換至繁體中文介面。
