oCam 是一款免費的螢幕錄影及擷取工具，簡單易用，首先是經由綠色外框的四方形來設定要錄影的區域，或者按下「重調大小」圖示，選擇固定尺寸的錄影區域，然後按下「錄製」按鈕開始錄影，使用者可選擇同時錄影和錄音或者只錄音 (MP3)，錄影完成後按下「停止」按鈕 (中文化將 Stop 譯為 「暫停」，顯然有誤，因為暫停是 Pause)。至於這款軟體提供的螢幕擷取功能，跟一般螢幕擷取工具大同小異，在此就不再贅述了。
這款免費軟體會將錄製的影片以預設的 .AVI 檔自動儲存在預設的「文件\oCam」 資料夾中，而擷取的圖片則以預設的 .PNG 檔儲存在同一資料夾中。若您想將影片存成不同的格式，可按下「編解碼器」圖示，選擇不同的影片格式，包括 .FLV、.MP4、.WMV、.MOV 等。除了可以更改預設的影片存檔格式，使用者還可從 Tools 功能表的 Options 選項中更改預設的存檔資料夾及預設的截圖存檔格式。此外，這款軟體支援 4GB 以上的錄影、支援雙螢幕且提供排程錄影功能。
