Miranda IM 是一款即時通訊軟體整合工具，支援大家常用的即時通訊軟體，如 MSN、Yahoo、ICQ 等。Miranda IM 在安裝過程中可讓使用者選擇「Normal Installation」(正常安裝) 或「Portable Installation」(可攜式安裝)，即無須安裝，只要解壓縮即可使用。
如果您有 MSN、Yahoo 等多個即時通訊軟體帳號，只要開啟這款軟體就可以同時登入，亦即它可讓您「多重登入」各種不同的即時通訊軟體，而且不會產生衝突，非常方便好用。這款軟體目前支援 ICQ、AIM、MSN、Jabber、Yahoo、Gadu-Gadu、Tlen、Netsend 等等。
尤有甚者，它還可以透過外掛來擴充/新增其他附加功能，如更改程式外觀或樣式 (即改變佈景主題)、表情圖示等等。

A multi protocol instant messenger client designed to be resource efficient and easy to use.
It uses very little memory, requires no installation and can easily be carried around on a single floppy disc.
The powerful plugin system makes the software extremely flexible. Only the most basic features are built in, but there are currently more than 130 plugins available for download that allows users to extend the functionality in Miranda IM. Plugins can be installed to add support for ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, Tlen, netsend and other protocols.
